Snakes?

Lilly's favorite snake is the anaconda. You may wonder how I know this. It is because she told me as we were driving back from lunch today. I asked here is she knew what an anaconda was and she said “yes, it’s a big snake.” So there you go.

She has always had a fascination of snakes. Last year when I took her to the zoo (with June and Abby), we were looking at some really cool animals (i.e giraffes) and she’s all like what’s next, where’s the snakes. I am pretty sure no one goes to the zoo to look at the snakes. I mean sure you see them, but it’s just because you ended up there, not because anybody was specifically looking for them…except us. At least herpetariums are air-conditioned.

Anyway, when we down in San Antonio last month Lilly wanted me to buy here this segmented wooden snake. Of course! Anyway, she was in her play kitchen making him some “chocolate milk”; evidently his name is “Ralph”. I went out to the living room and saw Ralph drinking his chocolate milk. (He's on the left.) It was so funny I had to get a shot. The second shot is Lilly’s picture.

And That is How the Cookie Crumbles..

O.K., So here’s the story. At Halloween I got the baking bug and had an excellent idea that I should create a ginger bread house for Halloween…a spooky ginger bread house. This house would be built so well I could scrape off all the scary and make it into a traditional Christmas ginger bread house by scraping off all the “scary”.
Anyway, last October was the wettest October on record and with the 11 inches of rain received; my well-built and crisp gingerbread house “slagged”. It crumbled with in a couple of days. You can’t tell from the picture but the back of the house is caving in.







Anyway, I had to rebuild and you can see my new gingerbread house that I built before Christmas and just threw away unceremoniously yesterday. So in your face Brian…this is not gingerbread house amateur hour.

Totally edible and as you can see from the power cord on the left, it does light up.

It's herbivore...

Today was the day the science fair projects are due (the other half of the students have them due tomorrow.) This is the time of year where I don't answer my phone, the students would have better luck catching me on my e-mail. The actually science fair is next week.

After recently contemplating the focus of my blog, I thought I'd offer at least one morsel of teenage wisdom. A couple of year's ago I was introducing the concept of mixtures. One of the terms used to describe a uniform mixture is "homogeneous" when I mentioned that word one kid blurted out..."Oh, yeah....Those are the one that eats only plants!!"

I have a computer at work. Most people think I'm pretty technically savvy (ie. I can copy and paste with ease and I can put songs on my ipod). We'll see if this makes it up or not.
